You see, there are many unknowns in the lives of the Smittys. We are expectantly waiting for our home to sell. We have listed with an awesome agent and are sure of God's call on our lives with this move. We also are waiting to hear from several of Smitty's interviews. He had 2 great interviews for a new job... and now we wait.... We did hear from both companies this week that he is a finalist. We are waiting on that piece of the puzzle to fall into place for me to go back to working part time. I treasure every moment with my children and long to be here more during the day (even if that means cleaning up puke... see Smitty's blog) We feel really called to adoption, yet all of the previously mentioned puzzle pieces need to be in place before we add Baby Smitty #3.
Forgive me as I muddle through my trivial stress. All of these things are great things... the waiting is just getting to me! I am living in anticipation of all that God is doing for His glory. I am reminded of the scripture that we read this week. We probably pass over this passage frequently.
Luke 7:11-17
11Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, "Don't cry."14Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" 15The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. 16They were all filled with awe and praised God. "A great prophet has appeared among us," they said. "God has come to help his people." 17This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea[a] and the surrounding country.
If only I could raise my head out of my frustration and see Jesus coming towards me... You see the crowd that was following Jesus had just seen him work wonders. They were filled with awe and anticipation of "what will he do next?" The crowd that was there mourning the death of the widow's son was no doubt, frustrated and bewildered. Had they lifted their heads and seen Jesus, I believe their countenance would indeed be different.
How often do we muddle through our lives and not lift our eyes to the One who works wonders? Oh, lift up my gaze! I want to make His name great!
